Your Kids One on One

Dear Diary,

Morning.

You know, when you have a second child pretty close to your first, or even more for that matter, you dont get much one on one time, its a totally different dynamic.

My oldest, I totally remember his first year so clearly, as a baby, I remember a lot about him, all the time we shared one on one. My little one? Its a blur.

Well with the change in schools. We are having one on one time now, which is good. Its interesting actually, seeing how little time he and I have for US.

Ive not been in the gym like I should be, but even if I go 3 days a week to the gym or what have you, I will still have him for one hour alone before getting his older brother.

As of the end of last week he has adjusted better to his homework at the new school, hes not groaning so much, and hes actually cracked open his math book last week and yesterday and done it without help or anything. Im proud of him. Since his class is small there is a boy N, who he already was classmates with when he was there before, and we went to a bday party at their house, Ive also seen his Mom in the gym. Anyways, these two are glued together now, seeing as there also are more girls in the class, and they are both high energy boys so they have found a BUDDY now, everyday when I pick up youngest the boy blurts out “Can he spend the night friday!????” haha.

So in some ways this is good seeing as youngest has lost neighbor boy and now has a new buddy, and they get the after school time to play one on one.

My little ones world has changed. Hes in a less chaotic, less distracting environment, which he needed. Hes also smart, realizing the work was a challange, but he needs it, hes already picked everything up, his only thing to work on really is cursive writing to get up to speed with everything else.

Hes been doing really well on his spelling tests, and he has 15 words now as opposed to 10 a week, And this week they are doing a big review test of all 75 words they have covered so far! Never did that before, so we are practicing for that this week. He also gets weekly Bible verse to memorize, and he seems to have them down no problem.

So he has to recite 5 verses this friday also!

So we shall see how he does, he had forgotten how to spell several words so had him write all the ones he got wrong 4 times each last night, then we will review again tonight, Wed they put on his homework sheet (FREE DAY, spend time with your family) haha, how often do you see that?

But its just weird, I get him about 3:45 at the earliest, we come home, he has a snack, changes, does homework at the table, I can straighten up, start dinner, whatever, or run some errands, he watches tv, or plays in his room, its quiet, theres nobody to fight with or energy to feed off of. But wow, once his brother is in the Jeep!!!!!! EEEEEEEEKS, hes already mock punching him and you totally see his attitude and excitement shift.

And you see why his older brother doesnt mind him gone? He prefers his own school space.

OH! And my oldest got a Halloween party invite! Its from 3 girls! I laughed, its so cute, its on Halloween night for 3 hours, I guess its a haunted house these girls will be doing, I have no prob taking him since its from 7-9 and he can go by for a bit after trick or treating.

Its just cute seeing an invite with 3 girls names with instructions and a map drawn for my son by 5th grade girls. My kids have begun to discuss girls, I heard them one day asking who the other likes, then on Friday oldest has whats called “Friday Fun Day” if the class reaches so many points for good behavior they are allowed to bring toys, games, etc from home and have a free time to play. I asked oldest what he played, he said “Stuffed animals” Okay so hes 5th grade, I asked who he played with, he said “I dont know” and little one says ” A girl that likes him!” and oldest is all quiet, I said “Hun its okay to play with girls” He said “I just get nervous” and I told him how my friend C and I have been friends since I was 3, how we used to play school and we used to pretend he was a hunter and I was his pet dog LOL and things as kids.

And it was innocent play.

The teacher already told me my son gets along well with boys and girls, everyone likes him. So its okay with me, hes very sensitive and thoughtful. Just weird thinking back to being his age, and remembering which boys I had a crush on, and that little girls view my son that way now too! Ahhh they are growing up. I showed B the party invite last night he nods his head and smiles and looks at me and says “Wow, he does not even realize how lucky he is” And he smiles and says “Classy my friend” to my oldest whos all confused lol, He just is friends with girls.

LOL

Ahhh my kids are growing up!!!!!!!

I took the kids to the park last night, B wasnt home yet, I wanted to do some laps and it gets dark earlier, well I did two whole laps and my kids started to fight, hitting eachother, etc etc. I was so ticked, I tell them I will take them, I havent in a few weeks, we get homework done, and this is how they say thankyou. I just said “We are leaving, thats it” they were totally brats and I let the mommy wrath speech out on them. They were SILENT in the vehicle. I said “Thanks mom, thanks for taking us” I said “These arent my kids are they?” and Ive just been on them about walking away and not engaging with one another, growing up.

I also called to make dentist appt for youngest, then called MY dentist to ask about the cost to start taking him there, they asked how old he was, and she said she would start seeing him. YAY! And the cost is $105 as opposed to $191! For the same things done. Screw it, Im done if I can help it with the old child dentist, and I get a discount with mine for being a cash payer with no insurance.

So his appt is first week of Nov.

So I asked B about his bills last night, he said he paid them. He said he just got caught up on everything and shelled out a lot of money this last week. My tires, his half of bills with me, his former landlord stuff, his insurance, his phone bill, and Im not sure if he just paid gas too and he pays a monthly amount to the woman he carpools with.

He talked to me last night about how he really needs to get in the gym again, hes just so tired when he gets in at the end of the day, hes considering waking up at 3am to go before work! EEEEEEE, lol he said its getting easier now for him to wake up early, and he would only do it about 2 days a week, we discussed how we need to both go weekends, just start doing it. So we just discussed a lot of this stuff, and he wants to check out the nightly yoga class, they have it twice a week he said. Yoga helps him with his back and loosening it up. Hes also ordered some books on swimming, since his gym out here has a pool and it being better on his body with his back problems.

He said his raise should be happening here soon, that it will be an additional $600 or more a month! WOW!
