Health Changes Bio Part 1 and Cleanses

Well I thought I should document this stuff. I love reading blogs from others who do these things and there results, plus I can review it for myself if needed.

I started about 2 mos ago, after not owning a scale for years, I stepped on my moms while visiting and was scared! I weighed more then I had when I was pregnant with my youngest son. I had never seen that number on the scale before! Granted I was 22 when I had him and Im in my 40s now. But still! I put on 40 pds in my pregnancies.

So that got me the wake up call. Plus some strange stuff Ive had going on for awhile.

Scalp rash on the back of my head under my hair on the back of my neck for years. Its come and gone, but it seems its not gone away at all since I moved out of state. I thought it was environmental but then again I had it when I lived in another state, it just came and went then.

So let me break down the symptoms

1. Hair scalp rash, Itching and scaly, dandruff, sometimes oozes. Dr said it was Seborrhic Dermatitis.

2. Rash on face, around mouth, lips felt raw, and periodic rashes on upper eyelids, painful and raw feeling.

3. Weight gain

4. Sore feet, plantar faciatis type pain. Some mornings my feet hurt when I hit the floor.

5. Acne (not severe,Ive always had this, but noticed more my chest)

6. UTI Urinary Tract Infections. I never had these, I had one coming on last year and bought non sugar added cranberry juice and knocked it out in a day. It sufaced again, and did the juice, but it seemed to work for a day then it returned.

7. Sinus Infection, mucus in my throat in the am. This went on for several years.

8. Earwax buildup affecting my hearing and having to go to the dr twice to have it cleaned out and removed. Ive never had this happen before.

9. Heavy periods, clotting

10. More facial hair growth on chin and face, coarse hair. Even did laser therapy and electrolysis. No help. I read up and found PCOS can cause this, my Dr said no I didnt have it.

11. Toenail fungus on my big toes lightly around the edges, the white area of the nail just went down farther, I didnt realize it was fungus starting.

So there you have it. I also have always had headaches most of my life and low blood sugar, but never test postive for diabetes. But I cant skip meals, and need regular protein or else I cant think straight, Im irritable, I can get a headache. A hamburger is an easy to fix to stop it.

Ive eliminated Soda long ago, I have it on special occassion now and then but overall I dont consume it. I dont drink coffee, maybe an occassional starbucks frappucino is all I like(something sweet), I dont smoke or use drugs. I drink for special occassions, maybe a dinner or special night, and its typically one glass, 2 is living it up for me! So I can go a month with 1 or 2 drinks sometimes.

My weakness and vice in life is Sugar and particularly PASTRIES and COOKIES. I like those.

I started juicing a few years ago. But not on a regular basis, but I did notice if I juiced in the am, it helped me and my blood sugar. I felt really good starting out a day with fresh made juice. We have a Jack Lalane juicer.

Then I ended up seeing the movie Fat Sick and Nearly Dead on Hulu(must go watch if you havent!) about a guy who sets out to just do a juice and is document also with his dr while doing this and travels and talks to people, a bunch of his health problems were cured and he lost weight and felt great. So ever since then Ive been regularly juicing, if I can every day! And when Im away from home and dont have my juicer I usually can find places to get fresh juice done.

My juice drink, its taken from the Movie I just mentioned, the Green Drink or Miracle drink I call it.

1 Granny Smith Green Apple
2-3 large carrots
half a cucumber
a chunk of ginger
1 stalk of celery
and a bunch of Kale or Spinach
half a lemon

This is my fave drink! Put the greens in just before the carrots at the end, I find it works better to extract and doesnt clog up the juicer strainer. And i love large pieces of ginger in mine. Ginger is my fave ingredient in the juice, its not the same without it for me! If your new to ginger, it will seem strong, it might feeling like its stinging your throat, but in a good way, like a germ killing feeling way, which is what it does! I made it for my kids whenever they felt anytime of sickness coming on and I swear it helps!

AND it tastes good! I think the Granny smith apple is important taste wise, other apples dont give the same sweetness I prefer.

Ive always been a milk drinker, all my life, mom pushes the milk, all day long, my parents were farmer type families from Iowa, meat, potatoes and milk people.

So giving up milk was one difficult area for me. I started spending more money and just buying organic, if Im going to drink it I dont need all the hormone added stuff. It was another addiction of mine. Which Im happy to report. I rarely drink milk now. I only buy organic, but I can go a month or two without a glass which is major, it was a daily routine for me!

The rash on my face around the mouth? I finally discovered after trying to many things, it was toothpaste! My husband and i were in 2 diff states for awhile due to his job. I use natural toothpaste, he had the flouride big brands and I got the rash when I came to see him. I thought it was allergies(im allergic to cats) and the place he was staying for the job had cats. But then I discovered after reading internet stories FLOURIDE. Once I stopped using flouride toothpaste? No more rash around mouth and nose area, no more raw feeling chapped lips. So I buy non flouride brand toothpastes(and read up on flouride, its not good for you like they say!)

I dont have anymore mercury metal fillings. I had some growing up but they came out, and I learned a good 20 plus years ago to stop using them so I always had the amalgam white ones since. I also stopped using store deoderants and aluminum cookware, most deoderants contain aluminum. And I worked with Alzhiemers patients and went through training and took classes and at that time in the 90s they said the only common component found then was aluminum found in the brains of those who had it. I also stopped the deoderant when i got pregnant with my first child, my child birth teacher taught us many of these things we put on our bodies that were harmful.

So the rash on my eyelids? I found Vit A worked, the capsule, but they are smelly. But it made them go away. Later I now have a product that works well for the face rash and eye lids. One is Puremedy facial moisturizer. This is ALL i use now and I love this stuff and a little goes a long way, great smell, natural ingredients. Its about $29 and well worth it!

But I havent kicked the scalp rash yet. Ive got shampoos from the dr, Ive done selsun blue, coconut oil, Apple cider vinegar, oil of oregano, aloe, you name it Ive read it, Get sunlight on it. Changed out all my store shampoos, hair products, bought natural no sulfate, etc etc products to try and clear it up. I do find certain store shampoos do aggravate it! So I have to use more natural products.

I did notice, Aloe vera and Apple Cider Vinegar cause it to weep, or ooze, and Im not sure why and if that is good, I just know it makes it crust up horribly and itch so I didnt continue using it.

So my latest thing was using a homeopathic cream I had for fungal infections, its taken down the itch big time! But its still there. So now Im using that and baking soda, direct on the scalp. It seems to be MUCH better so far, not cured yet, but less scaling and itching, I just cant wait till its GONE! I have dandruff now because of it! And I love to have my hair up but its on the back of my head/neck so not too pretty.

The UTI infections, well one thing that happened was we changed condomns and I found that can cause them, but then still they were happening. I had never used AZO products, that saved me! But I knew they werent a cure for it. So I researched and found a product D-Mannose with Cranactin at the health food/vitamin store. That did the trick! I recommend, this will take care of it and just slap a bandaid. If I even felt an inkling I take one with water, and it works! And did it regularly for a week or two to stop it and havent had a prob since.

I also do lemon water every day, fresh lemon juice in a warm glass of water, I am fortunate to have a lemon tree that is huge at my new home so it makes this easy! And I freeze lemon cubes during the off times, I had lemons like you wouldnt believe and gave away tons. I also have a grapefruit, orange and pomegranite tree. So wonderful to have food in your backyard!

We also have an herb garden, for now just basil, thyme, sage and rosemary. Will be adding more and some veggies, but we are new to the garden thing and so bare with us, cant do everything in one day!

I have tried many things for heavy periods, and had a sis with similar stuff going on older then me, we compared notes, hers was so heavy she had to leave work sometimes and just go home. And its really hard to find good help with this stuff.

She has lupus and RA and a host of problems, she had a hysterectomy finally and it seemed to give her a lot of her life back and her health probs stopped. And theres a link to lupus stopping with menopause. So I read a lot to help her and to understand all these things.

Plus my mom started bleeding a few yrs ago, mind you in her 70s, like a period. She went in right away, they removed a sample from her uterus. and found cancer. she had a hysterectomy right away and then radiation. My mom is awesome, always has been in good health, never drank or smoke a day in her life, works hard, mentally sharp. You wouldnt guess her age. She drives a truck with a toolbox and her name on the plate and she can fix almost anything. She never took birth control pills nor did she do hormone replacement therapy. She didnt take any meds, heck she wont even take anything for a headache! She just took a multi vitamin and Vit C all my life growing up.

So why did MOm get cancer?

She never even was sick and it was caught so fast. She was literally standing in the room after surgery, they tried offering her a walker and she looked at them like they were mad and was ready to walk down the halls, when we took her home, all us kids came out to help, guess what she did? Get out herself and go make a pot of coffee herself. She didnt stop or slow down. Thats how we are in this family!

Its been several years since, so far so good, but I see moms eating habits as the big prob. We grew up with Margarine, Milk, Velveta Cheese, lots of boxed foods. Mom cooks a lot, meats, but lots of fried meats, in bisquick is one of her faves. She loves her snacks, ice cream, always have ice cream, daily. Pies, cakes, muffins. She does eat fruit, and veggies daily, cooks and rarely eats out.

So those are the only areas in her life that I saw and grew up with that I have changed and pray for her(Update she just got rid of margarine about a month ago and went back to butter!!!!!)

Read up on butter and margarine if your not familiar, margarine is awful stuff!

We have switched over to Sea Salt. I read labels now and dont buy anything with added sugar, no high fructose corn syrup, no aspartame, sucralose, splenda. I never was into those, we got free samples long ago of Crystal light when it was brand new, this was in the 80s and I remember making it and it tasted good, but I got terrible headaches, and I knew that back in the 80s just from some samples and stayed away from it EVER SINCE. But Ive seen so many people use this stuff and give it to their kids growing up and I cringe. And this was before everyone spoke out against it. I knew it was bad from the get go as a teen. I also have been repelled by red food dies all my life. I used to spit out red flinstone vitamins in the sink, hate red and purple suckers, frostings, pink frosting cookies to name a few. I just didnt like the taste, it was like you just tasted the dye. So i stayed away from it, not knowing that many kids with ADD are set off by Red dyes and the things I describe, I just knew as a kid that I didnt like it.
