Rape
Dear Diary,
The news story out yest that over 200 women and some male children were raped over the past 4 days…
Rwandan and Congolese rebels gang-raped nearly 200 women and some baby boys over four days within miles of a U.N. peacekeepersâ base in an eastern Congo.
Rape has become a huge problem in DR Congo, with the Congolese armed forces having also been accused of such actions during campaigns aimed at driving out rebels.
The UN has estimated that over 5,000 women were raped in the South Kivu province alone in 2009.
And that some of these women were raped 4-6 times by different men, gang raped.
Mortifies me. Saddens me.
I had just watched Blood Diamond this past week and that totally opened up my eyes to things I did not know about going on in the recent past and now present in our world.
Watching footage online of the real stories, of how these women are raped in front of there husbands and children, by several men, brutalized, there genitals damaged by things done to them. Then after the rapes how there husbands refuse to be with them and leave them?
So not only has her soul been robbed, the trauma, all of it, then your partner leaves you? Then any future men look down on you because of your injuries?
God I just felt so grieved yesterday reading this stuff is going on today in our world.
What is going on in these men’s minds? To do this to there people?
Lord I pray for your comfort and hand on these women, I dont know what I can do exactly to help but pray right now. I cry for them, I hurt for them. 🙁
