Reagan

Dear Diary,

Well its 12:25am as I write this, I just got home.

I got the kids from school and we headed out around 7pm to Simi Valley to The Reagan Presidential Library. I wanted to go, I wanted the kids to experience this too, I got a hold of B as he lives near there and is off the same freeway. So we got B around 8pm, well on the radio after work they said there was about an hour delay, They had signs on the freeway that said 3 HOUR DELAY, and B and I just looked at one another, I didnt think my kids would hang waiting for 3 hrs and getting in there around midnite.

So we got off the freeway and turned around. I was bummed, but we just went to a Burger King with a playland and the kids ran around and we were able to sit together and talk some, we then drove B home, we ended up coming in till 10pm. My kids were unusally huggy today and friendly with B. Which was very interesting I must say.

B made some comment as we sat in his room about disconnecting his DSL service and all and he didnt want to renew a year contract cause he would probably be out of there in around 6 mos or so. OH? I said “Oh where are you going?” and realizing hes talking about US or living elsewhere, which just makes my heart skip to realize hes really thinking or at least so he says.

Anyways, kids and I left, And we decided to trek on the fwy that direction once more to see what the delay time was listed at. Still 3 hrs. But we decided to venture further, the radio was airing a program live from there, and going over Reagan and all. It was really neat, a type of history lesson in the Jeep with the kids and we all talked.

OMGOSH, we got stuff in the traffic, it took us an hour to go about 4 miles! And we finally got off on one exit before the final one towards the library.

And this exit we did get off is the very one we traveled to h ave my youngest at the Birth Center so I told him this is the very road where you go to where he was born.

So needless to say we didnt get to go and pay respects to the former President. And I really wanted to, Id have stayed up all night to go, but my kids wouldnt be able to do that. And I got concerned about my Jeep overheating at the rate we were in traffic.

So we gave it a shot, Im still tempted to call in sick tomm and take the kids and go, they extended it till midnite, but even as I drove home, the visitors just keep growing and this is going all night long and they said traffic is getting worse, the delay even longer.

But im sure even more people will attempt to go tomm as its the last day… I told the kids we will come back to the Library and visit after he is buried there.

So despite us not getting in, we had a really nice family/history, together talk time.
