RANT: Cell Phones & Emails
This is one of those rant moment entries, just something of the moment that annoys me. And if you are one of my friends here and you do this, its not directed at you! LOL Cause none of you here bug me this way.
My complaint is this….
Since people now have cell phones and computers, we are able to call, leave voice mails, emails, comments, blog comments, myspace comments, you name it.
Well first its the email issue, why people are pissed off if I dont answer an email that very day is beyond me. I dont sit there all day or have a ringer in my home that says “EMAIL EMAIL!” and I run and check it, I check it when I feel like it. And I answer an email when I feel like it. Theres a difference between an URGENT message, please let me know (and most people who know me have my phone number if something is THAT important)
And those who bitch you didnt write them back right away or send you a letter saying “What are you not talking to me? blah blah blah crap.
I got one of those this AM. When I get stuff like that it makes me NOT want to write back at all, it pushes me further away. And it was nothing urgent, the email just screamed insecurity and then accomplishments,,, like I was not writing them back due to the things the person listed, and yes this was a male! ACK!
Wow, now that I think about it I have two males who do that by email.
Resending an email if I dont answer that very day. So I get it double. BLEH!
And then there are those who call your cell phone and seem to think that because you have a cell phone you answer it whenever and wherever you are. I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE.
Im not the one in the bank or store line talking out loud. I prefer to wait or Im a quick quiet “Let me call you back later” type.
And sometimes I just dont feel like talking, plain and simple. As I said, if its urgent thats one thing but Im not referring to any of these examples as people having something urgent trying to contact me.
This is what makes me want to screen calls, makes me want to hide away at times.
Yes I call people. I leave voice mails and emails. Some people write back, some dont, if Im concerned Im more the type to write a month later and drop another hello, but not write “What do you not like me anymore/? You didnt write me back!”
I just hate that particular aspect of email and cell phones, to me those are extras, there wont be too many of our generations left who lived in this world back where we didnt have cell phones or computers, where we just had a home phone or a pay phone when we went out. And we survived!
No my kids dont have cell phones. Im more old skool on many things. But I marvel at how many kids do have them now. Grade schoolers. Ack….
Anyways,,, thats my rant for today
