Teaching?

I talked to my girlfriend D last night, the one who is the school teacher. I asked her about a Teachers Aide job. She said that is what her sister does and has done for years, she makes around $15 an hour. Thats $5 more then I make. She said she works from 7-2. She talked to me about getting credentialed, or my BA or whatever(sorry Im clueless on all this stuff) She told me that substiitute teachers are in big demand, its $100 a day and you can work when you want(She was doing this at first) And she told me that you can get picked up as a teacher so easily once your name is out there in the schools from subbing and all. She also said working with special ed is in demand and you get paid more. And told me that you can get hired to teach without your credentials(shes not even done yet)

I guess I didnt know how grants and all that worked, Im so clueless, she told me since Im considered low income/poverty level I could probably get a good thing going. And get paid and just go to school and be teaching or working before Im even done with school.

Hmmm its scary to think about, but she told me to go meet with the College about it, so guess thats what I shall do. She also told me to go to the school districts and put in applications for a teachers aide if I want to do that.

D keeps telling me she wants to start her own business and we need to talk as we could do it together. Last night she discussed Home Schooling, being paid to do it for others, taking about 5 or 6 kids and told me I could be her aide.

I told Boyfriend last night about D saying we should go into business together. B said “Well why not?” I said “Cause D is so flighty and changes her mind and ideas all the time” Hes all “Well thats where you two would make a perfect balance, your stable business minded organized half and her creative whimsical side could balance eachother out. Isnt B great?

Not to say Im going to do anything with D, but we are supposed to get together this week and talk, so hopefully this week. Shes off from teaching for the month since the holidays and off track. Which Im envious, I like that part about teaching, the breaks and your paid when your off. Heck right now D’s teacher salary is $35,000 I believe with good benefits. Mine is $19,000 and maybe less this year unless I get a raise, but I do have health benefits, but no dental which she gets.

And shes telling me with grants I can get paid and just go to school and live off the loans? That scares me, I dont want to rack up a load of debt either but B even encourages this with me saying since Im low income its best time for me to go for it for what Id qualify for.
