Talking to Kids

Dear Diary,

Oh I forgot to note. I spoke to my oldest last night and asked him why he had asked me about his Dad and I going to court.(since Gma told the children about this)Why on earth she told a 6 and 7 yr old this I had no idea. Since neither my ex or myself have even shared going to court with them. I could tell my son didnt want to talk about it and he said he needed to think, he couldnt remember. Then he said “Gma said because of stealing” I said Who? He said “You and Dad” I said “She said we are stealing from eachother?” He said yes. So I said “Huney that is not true, if anyone tells you something you come and talk to me about it, because I want you to make sure you are hearing the truth, sometimes adults dont say the truth” What this was about Im not quite sure, but why on earth was she discussing this with our children? Then he said “Grandma said Dad has to pay” and then he didnt want to talk about it anymore. I didnt want to pry any further, I just told him that if she told him anything else that he should always discuss things with me to make sure they are true.

I called my Mom, she said “Remember Victoria, your Ex learned how to behave the way he did from her, so they are both the same in how they handle things, dont expect her to handle it like an adult”

Its all weird ya know? I just want to move forward. Get this stuff settled and out of the way. Let he and I deal with the legal matters and get them settled. I dont want to be stuck in a constant drama. It may be how it goes unless my ex mellows out and gets the idea, others say he wont really get off my back till he finds another woman. I can just see another woman bringing a whole new set of troubles.
