Divorce & Credit Questions?

Dear Diary,

Well while I was out last night with C I talked Real Estate. Its what he does. So I shared with him that the only thing I cant really do is refinance the house and get the Ex off the loan at this time due to my income and only one year job history. What can I qualify for???

I was reading thru websites all weekend on preserving your credit during a divorce. And a main thing stressed was to get to get the other spouse off the LOAN. Yes Ex will have to quit claim the house but it only removes him from the Deed and not the loan.

Now ultimately he has nothing to worry about with me screwing him on his credit. I make all my payments on time, Im good with money. Im handling our shared debts with no help from him still( waiting for attny to settle that end) All he is thrilled about is getting his half of the equity.

And he pushed me at first to sell the house, which was stupid. I cant even find an apartment for this price for what I have, and Im raising the children.

So I can make the house payments as long as he makes all his child support and alimony payments. The last 2 checks bounced the first time going thru. And now the one due on the 1st still hasnt arrived.

He was angry I get to file Head of Household status when he called several weeks ago, and we did put in the legal paper draft(which isnt signed yet) That if I cant make 3 house payments in a row I have to put the house up for sale. So seriously I wouldnt put it past him to try and hurt me financially. Hes trying every other way he can in my life.

Also if he files for bankruptcy, will this in any way affect the loan with both our names on it even if we are divorced? Anyone knowledgable on such matters? I have to wait till after 1 today to try and talk to attnys office, and I still am clueless on a lot of things.

But the Realtor friend did say there is another loan I can apply for. I forget what its called but he said its for people who are self employed n such and cant predict their incomes but have good credit. He said Int rate is a little higher, but the rates are lower now than ever here and I will probably get a rate lower then what I have now anyways, so I will have to look into that!

I just want all ties to the Ex gone if possible. I want him out of my life and one of his biggest areas of abuse during our life together was economic.
